Hard Times for College Students

The financial crisis, worldwide, and the pandemic (and now the war) have exacerbated the status of college students. Homeless college students are facing barriers in accessing housing, due to many factors like, expensive housing, no shelters, no affordable places to live, etc. Those who can afford the private rental market may face some forms of housing discrimination from landlords, including racial discrimination, source income discrimination and discrimination against students.

The 2019 Survey found some interesting facts.

• 39% of respondents were food insecure in the prior 30 days
• 46% of respondents were housing insecure in the previous year
• 17% of respondents were homeless in the previous year

And this is a problem, many students are living in their cars, couchsurfing or living on a couch. This just simply affects the performance of any individual, even worse, a college student.

Let’s fight this problem, let’s work together for a solution, help us help these college students.
